6 posts in this topic

Hi , i need help with my Archer C8,

Archer c8 bricked after wifi upgrade.

When is power on , just have a two BLUE lights. what does that mean ? is dead the router?

he modem is not accessible via cable lan or via serial port, the modem does not start the boot, the only lights that light up in the modem are the usb light and pc light. They turn blue.
Anyone know if this modem has JTAG ?!

If i had rewrite flashroom, is that only way ?

It looks like bootloader is corrupted.

Yes. You need rewrite first 256KB with proper bootloader. When You have working bootloader you can fix this router using recovery mode.

Can i do that with serial port and lan cable? or just do that with a writer spi flash memory?

If You have warranty to this router try using it!!

So I try to extract uboot, os-image and filesystem partitions from firmware: c8v1_un-up-ver4-0-0-P4[20160517-rel44603].bin

Here is image with separated partitions: Archer C8 - bin firmware.zip

Image with mergred partitions: Archer C8 mergred mtd0-2 firmware.zip

Here is full partition table:

partition fs-uboot base 0x00000 size 0x40000

partition os-image base 0x40000 size 0x200000

partition file-system base 0x240000 size 0xcc0000

partition default-mac base 0xf00000 size 0x00200

partition pin base 0xf00200 size 0x00200

partition product-info base 0xf00400 size 0x0fc00

partition soft-version base 0xf10000 size 0x0b000

partition support-list base 0xf1b000 size 0x04000

partition profile base 0xf20000 size 0x04000

partition default-config base 0xf24000 size 0x0b000

partition user-config base 0xf30000 size 0x40000

partition qos-db base 0xf70000 size 0x40000

partition partition-table base 0xfb0000 size 0x10000

partition log base 0xfc0000 size 0x20000

partition radio_bk base 0xfe0000 size 0x10000

partition radio base 0xff0000 size 0x10000

Bolded parts is very important and is diffrent on each router.

Italics parts is important to recovery mode and firmware upgrade.

When You desolder flash chip first make backup Your flash chip. Then change only 0x0 to 0xF00000 data using my image files.

Write it to chip and verify data.

Now solder the chip to the router board.
